"I've always dreamed of playing in France, and it exceeded my expectations. It was an incredible experience," he shared.
He spoke of the town's passion for rugby, the dedicated fans, and the intense atmosphere that surrounded the sport. "Rugby is like a religion there. The support we received was incredible, and the town lived and breathed rugby. It was exactly what I needed to fall back in love with the game."
Moriarty also had the privilege of playing alongside some exceptional talents, including young rising stars and ex-internationals. He mentioned Courtney Lawes, a fellow Lion, who joined the team during his time there.
A Homecoming with the Ospreys
Fast forward, and Moriarty's return to the Ospreys feels like a homecoming. As the son of former Swansea back-row Paul, Moriarty grew up in the city and took his first rugby steps with the Ospreys' academy. His professional journey then took him to Gloucester, but now, he's back where it all began.
"It's quite the full circle moment," he reflected. "I've always wanted to play for the Ospreys, but it didn't align with my path at the time. Now, it feels right. I'm back home with my family and my wife."
Moriarty's aggressive and impressive performances in the United Rugby Championship this season have caught the eye. He's started all three fixtures, showcasing the form that could see him back in the Wales squad under the new head coach, Steve Tandy.
While Moriarty insists that Wales selection is not his primary focus, his recent resurgence suggests otherwise. It would be an impressive comeback for the back-row, considering his last cap was over three years ago.
